Convert a Word document to PDF
Word to PDF on ilovspdfs converts a .docx document into a PDF: text, headings, lists, tables and embedded images come through, while exact fonts, spacing, headers and footers do not. It runs on ilovspdfs servers as part of Pro: the file is sent over HTTPS, rendered in memory, and never stored.

About this tool
The document's content is read, laid out as a page, and rendered by a real browser engine, so what you get is a clean, printable PDF of what the document says. It is a conversion of content, not a pixel-exact copy of Word's output: paragraphs, headings, lists, tables, bold and italic, and embedded pictures come through; the exact fonts, line spacing, headers, footers, text boxes and tracked changes do not. If the document's look matters more than its words, export the PDF from Word itself.

Questions
- Is my file uploaded for this tool?
- Yes. Unlike the tools marked Private, this one sends your file to an ilovspdfs server over HTTPS, processes it in memory, and streams the result straight back as the response. Nothing is written to disk, nothing is logged about the contents, and nothing remains once the response has been sent.
- What is not preserved?
- Fonts are replaced by a standard family, so line breaks and page breaks can fall differently. Headers, footers, text boxes, footnotes and tracked changes are left out. Everything in the main flow of the document is kept.
- Can I convert an older .doc file?
- No. The binary .doc format is not read. Open the file in Word or LibreOffice, save it as .docx, and convert that.
- Why does this tool need a Pro subscription?
- Because it runs on hardware we pay for. Everything that runs in your own browser stays free with no account, at any file size. The cloud tools are the few jobs a browser tab genuinely cannot do, and Pro is what pays for the machines that do them.
