Add a signature to a PDF
Sign PDF on ilovspdfs shows your document and lets you drag your signature to the exact spot it belongs, running entirely in your browser so the file is never uploaded. About this tool
Draw your signature with a mouse, trackpad, or finger, or upload a photo of one you signed on paper. The document appears beside it, page by page: click where the signature should go, then drag it into place and pull the corner to size it. Because none of this leaves your device, the contract you are signing is not sitting on somebody else's server while you position it.
How to add a signature to a PDF
- 1Open the PDF you need to sign.
- 2Draw your signature, or upload an image of one.
- 3Drag it where it belongs on the page, then download the signed file.

Questions
- Do my files get uploaded to a server?
- No. This tool runs entirely inside your browser tab. Your file is read into memory, changed on your own machine, and handed straight back to you as a download. Nothing is transmitted, so there is nothing on our side to store or delete.
- Is this a legally binding electronic signature?
- That depends on your jurisdiction and on what the document requires, and it is not something we can answer for you. What this tool does is place an image of your signature onto the page — the same thing as printing, signing, and scanning. It does not attach a certificate, so it cannot prove who applied it or show whether the document was altered afterwards. Where those properties matter, you need a certificate-based digital signature, which is a separate tool we have not built.
- How do I put the signature in the right place?
- The document is drawn on screen next to your signature. Click the page where you want it, then drag it to fine-tune and pull the corner handle to resize. Arrow keys nudge it a little at a time, and hold Shift to move further. Use the page arrows to sign a page other than the first.
- Can I sign every page at once?
- Yes. Position the signature once, then tick "put it in the same spot on every page" — useful when a contract asks for initials on each sheet. It appears at the same place on every page, so pick a spot that is empty throughout.
- The preview will not load. Can I still sign?
- Yes. If the document cannot be drawn on screen — a very unusual file, or a browser without the features the preview needs — the tool says so and falls back to placing the signature in the bottom-right corner of the last page.
- Can somebody remove or copy my signature?
- Yes. A drawn signature is an image on a page: it can be deleted with a PDF editor, or lifted and pasted onto another document. That is true of every scanned signature, not just this tool. Flattening does not change it either.
- Does it work without an internet connection?
- Once the page has loaded, yes. The processing code runs locally, so you can disconnect and the tool will still work. That is also a simple way to verify the privacy claim for yourself.
